2. The NJTC TechPAC is the only political action committee in New Jersey dedicated exclusively to supporting the technology community. The NJTC TechPAC is also one of only a handful of technology PACs in the nation. Your contributions to The NJTC TechPAC will be used exclusively for the promotion of technology.

3. Political Action Committees such as NJTC TechPAC are good for democracy. Sometimes PAC involvement in the political process is criticized. In reality, PACs should be celebrated because they represent people getting involved in the political process. It is your right to elect lawmakers who you think will represent what’s best for your business, employees and community. Participating in The NJTC TechPAC is one of the best ways to exercise that right.

4. Our opponents and competitors are in the political arena, fighting for their views on the issues. Organizations that don’t think about business the way you do are raising millions of dollars to spend in this year’s Assembly races. They are working hard to elect 80 members of the Assembly who will represent their interests, not ours. We cannot afford to sit on the sidelines and let others dominate the political decisions-making process. The technology community needs a strong PAC and you are the key to bringing that about.

5. The NJTC TechPAC will do more than just raise money and contribute to pro-technology legislators. The NJTC TechPAC will mobilize the technology sector to impact this year’s elections through a comprehensive voter registration, voter education and get out the vote (GOTV) effort – Project TechVOTE. The NJTC TechPAC encourages businesses that are restricted from making political contributions to donate to the NJTC Voter Education Fund to support Project TechVOTE.

6. The NJTC TechPAC is a perfectly legal way to support pro-technology candidates. The new and complex pay-to-play rules in New Jersey institute stringent rules on political contributions made by companies doing business with government. Giving to The NJTC TechPAC takes the guess work and uncertainty out of getting involved in the political process. You are permitted to give $7,200 per year to The NJTC TechPAC. Note that regulated industries are prohibited from making corporate political contributions, but employees may make contributions.

7. Supporting The NJTC TechPAC is an easy and effective way to be politically involved for your company and your industry. You may not have the time to get involved in politics, but a contribution to The NJTC TechPAC is a quick and effective way for you to play a role in helping secure the industry’s success in the political arena. What’s more, the influence of your PAC contribution goes far beyond your own district or county – you’ll be helping to elect lawmakers from all over New Jersey who will vote on the issues that impact your future.

8. Participation in The NJTC TechPAC is voluntary, but compliance with state laws and regulations is not. It is your decision whether or not to participate in the PAC, and you have the right to refuse to participate without fear of reprisal. Once state policy is made, however, the technology industry and our employees have no choice but to comply. Supporting The NJTC TechPAC is not only good politics, but a sound business decision as well.

9. The NJTC TechPAC helps support the campaigns of candidates who will support us. Your voluntary contribution to the PAC is pooled with those of your colleagues throughout the industry, and given to candidates who understand our business and our interests. These candidates, as lawmakers who have a good understanding of the industry, will be likely to support us in critical votes.
